GENERAL DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS

N,N-Diethyl-m-Toluamide, commonly known as DEET, is an insect repellent applicable to human skin directly and on clothing and households. But it is not used on food. It is primarily used to protect against biting pests such as mosquitoes and ticks. Among three isomers , ortho-.meta-, para-, m-isomer is the most effective one. It is also used as a solvent for resin and film formers. DEPA (N,N-DIETHYL PHENYL ACETAMIDE, CAS # 2431-96-1) is an analogue of DEET. Insect repellents include;
