It is used as an intermediate for the synthesis of organic compounds especially for agrochemicals and metal brightening agents. It is used as an corrosion inhibitor, soil fumigant and pharmaceutical intermediate. Propargyl describes the functional group of 2-propynyl (HC≡C-CH2-).
