APPLICATIONS

Apomorphine is a catecholamine class alkaloid derived by dehydration of morphine which has a powerful central stimulant action. Apomorphine is a dopamine agonist which stimulates dopamine receptors and show a direct action at the sites where dopamine is active in the brain. Apomorphine acts as a rapidly acting central emetic agent to treat accidental drug overdose and poisoning.The chemical designation is 5,6,6a,7-Tetrahydro-6-methyl-4H-dibenzo[de,g]quinoline-10,11-diol. The hydrochloride salt of apomorphine is a white to grayish powder; soluble in water; administered subcutaneously.
