GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATIONS

Soybean oil is one of drying oils (cottonseed oil, corn oil, soybean oil, linseed oil and tung oil) which form a elastic film when oxidized in air. They are used mainly in paints, varnishes, lacquers, and inks. Soybean oil  is a pale yellow oil extracted from soybeans; soluble in alcohol, chloroform, and ether. It is used in glycerin and soap manufacturing, paiints, rubber substitutes, plastics, printing inks, feeds, in food industry. It is hydrogenated by ctalytic reaction to form solid fats. Hydrogenated soybean oil is used as a food supplement, a lubricant in tablet manufacturing and in pharmaceutical industries.
