GENERAL DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS

Piperonyl butoxide, a safrole class compound, has low or non insecticidal activity directly. It is primary used as a synergist to enhance the properties of the pyrethroids, rotenone and carbamates by blocking the pyrethrin detoxification enzymes in the insect. It may act also as an antioxidant and as an extender in combination with synergist activity. It can be mixed with insecticide to treat farm buildings, food processing, handling & shipping and storage facilities.

Examples of pesticide synergist:

  • Bis(2,3,3,3-tetrachloropropyl) ether (CAS RN: 127-90-2)
  • Bucarpolate (CAS RN: 136-63-0)
  • Di-n-propylmaleate isosafrole (CAS RN: 83-59-0)
