APPLICATIONS |
|||
| Quinoline Yellow is a synthetic dye for yellow to greenish-yellow coloring;
obtained from coal tar; sipirit soluble, it's sodium salts are water soluble. It
is a mixture of disulfonates (principally), monosulfonates and trisulfonates of
2-(2-quinolyl) indan-1,3-dione. It is used in coloring food, cosmetics and
meications (FD&C Yellow No.10). But It is banned in some countries as it may
cause dermatitis. Lake is a chelate formed between a mordant dye and a polyvalent metal ion
(aluminum and ferric iron are common. Both have three valencies) which forms
covalent and coordinate bond with fibers and proteins in a manner similar to
that between the mordant and the dye and so as to form an
insoluble lake. |
