| Succimer is a chelating agent used in the treatment of heavy metal poisoning (arsenic, mercury and lead). It is used to treat Wilson's disease, a genetic disorder in which the body tends to retain copper It is used as a selective masking agent for cadmium in EDTA titration of zinc. Succimer is a white crystalline powder with a characteristic mercaptan odor and taste; melting point 196 - 198 C; administered orally. Dimercaprol is another common heavy metal chelating agent. | ||
