| GENERAL
DESCRIPTION OF OROTIC ACID |
| Orotic acid:
Uracil-6-carboxylic acid, is an intermediate in the metabolism of pyrimidine
nucleotides. Naturally
occurring derivatives are components of nucleic acids: cytosine, thymidine, and
uracil).
Orotidine: a nucleoside, orotic acid N1 is linked to the C1 of ribose.
Orotidine 5'-phosphate: an intermediate in pyrimidine nucleotide
biosynthesis.
They
are used as a cosmetic ingredient, in medicine, as a feed supplement
and in biochemical research.
